In A105 Slip On Flange, the alloy contains low carbon and silicon-containing steel similar to AISI 1330 Flange but with lower manganese content by having a slightly larger diameter than the pipe to make it easier to connect with the pipe by 1 fillet weld, at the outside of the flange.

The heat treatment in ASME SA105 Blind Flanges should be followed by subsequent rapid cooling in water or air, where this treatment applies for both solution annealing and stress relieving.
